Can These Shoes Be Fixed? Start With a Photo Assessment
Updated
When a favorite pair of shoes wears down, it can be hard to know whether to replace it or try repairing it. You don’t need to diagnose the damage yourself. A few clear photographs and a short description can help a repair professional understand the condition and explain possible next steps.
What kinds of shoe problems can be assessed?
Common issues worth asking about include separated soles, worn heels, damaged heel tips, loose stitching, scuffed leather, broken boot zippers, torn straps, and surface discoloration. Some can be addressed with traditional shoe-repair methods; others depend on the materials and how the shoe was built.

What photographs should you send?
- A photo of both shoes that shows the overall condition.
- A close-up of the damaged area in good lighting.
- A side view and a picture of the soles or heels, if relevant.
- Any detached pieces, plus a short note about what happened.
Photos allow an initial discussion; they don’t guarantee a repair is feasible. Some structural damage cannot be fully evaluated until the shoes are inspected in person.
How the assessment works
- Describe the problem. Tell us what kind of shoes you have and what needs attention.
- Upload your photographs. Use the photo-assessment form to share the visible damage.
- Review the next steps. The repair team can discuss whether a closer inspection or specific service makes sense.
